Rebuild Update

#7 got sleeved today. By the end of the week, all 8 will be getting 20 over pistons. The heads have been cleaned up and new valves, seats, and comp 910's are going in along with studs once the short block gets back together.

HPOP is sent off to Joey for modding. DP chip is shipping out for updated tunes to accomodate a JW valve body and ARI TC that I installed this past weekend, Casserly's 238/100's, and a 38r that arrived today.

Waiting in the garage is a new black CPS, Bellowed up Pipes and a Walbro 392fuel pump(next to get installed).

I have the engine bay totally cleaned, repainted, and ready.

I am turning the corner on this project and ready to start to see some progress. I can only dream of how it will drive compared to what I have in my current sig.

Re: Rebuild Update

I'll be following your thread. I'll be picking up my mtr this week from the machine shop. Block just needed honing, all new valves, 910 springs, polished crank, New pistons and cam bearings and brass freeze plugs. Rebuilt rods. I also had it balanced. Are you welding your piston squirters??? Now I have to start saving for the injectors and turbo and the list goes on. What it boils down to now is about another 3-4k, probably more.

Re: Rebuild Update

Well you here about the horrow stories about the oilers falling out into the oil pan. I'm going to find a welding shop with a Tig welder to weld these up. While you have the mtr. apart whats another few dollars for the added security. My machine shop bill was 1100.00+. What did you spend?

Re: Rebuild Update

Thanks, I will check into that. I am having the long block done completely locally so I go down there often to visit with him and we discuss options like the sleeve, studs and springs, or cleaning out the heads. I bought the studs and springs and took them down there and he is buying everything else. My bill should be 2-3k down there. I will have 8k in the whole project in the end but I am also selling off parts I don't need and I bought 3 motors(2000 model) to take parts off of or sell. I trimmed my injector bill by sending in extra cores. I hope to only have around 6k out of pocket once I am completely done.

In a weird way according to my wife, I am really enjoying this

To get my truck in the garage, I used 2 x 4's and sheets of OSB to build around the 5' of the truck that stuck out so I had room up front to work and that was after I took air out of the tires to get it under the door due to the 4" lift. I keep waiting for the building inspecto to stop buy,

I wondered about you and the ARI. I have done some research and there are some guys running them that like them. A couple of years ago, they were $500 but I haven't read anyone bashing them. The VB was easy but quite a mess.

Re: Rebuild Update

the tc is what spooks me...especially after a thread i saw in the tranny section about a guy that f'd up his clutches and a pump, cause his wasn't seated fully.
I dug and dug looking for bad reviews on the ari found none....hopefully i wont be the first..

Re: Rebuild Update

Kila,

Quick question, why run a modded 17* pump when its just a few hundred more for an SRP1? When I talked to Jacob at BDP and told him I wanted new tunes for my 250/100's and modded 17* pump he said not to even bother really with modding the 17*. He told me to run my stock pump and he would send out tunes for that till I had enough cash to get the SRP1 and then he would send out tunes for the SRP1. Since he told me that I ordered the SRP1 and will be running it with my new setup that is going on next week.... any reason why you are spending all that money and not going with the SRP1 or Adrenaline?

2 reasons really, from what I have read, I assumed a good 17* would fit my needs but maybe I am wrong there.

Also, with my other motors came some trade value so I was able to work out a trade with Joey and only pay shipping one way.

Would I be wise to look at an adrenaline or the like due to the 238's?
