Problems during Cold Start

I have been noticing this more and more over the last few weeks since it has been record low temps around here. I usually plug my truck in over night and it will crank fine with little visible smoke, but if I do not plug it in it will smoke blue for probaly five minute untill it warm up some. Also when i leave school in the afternoons it has been in the 30s and it will smoke blue enough to be noticable in the mirror. On monday I also notice a large puff of white smoke then the usual blue that eventually clear. This is just concerning me but may be normal what do yall think is the cause?

Thanks in advance

Re: Problems during Cold Start

The only thing that concered me is that when the truck was still bone stock last winter i dont remember it doing that. Could the chip and other mods have contributed to the smoke? Where is the smoke actually coming from?

Re: Problems during Cold Start

Fuel / oil in the cylinder on start up. It's more pronounced with a chip and other fuel mods as there is more of it from those mods.

Nothing to worry about. Plug it in when you can

Re: Problems during Cold Start

If it starts when cold then you are good. Set it back to stack and see what it does, if it is the same as last year then it is the chip and no worries.

Only really need to have it plugged in for a few hours, no need for over night. Will lower the power bill by a good bit limiting the time. It is
a 1000w heater in there.

Re: Problems during Cold Start

Mine blows blue smoke for the first few minutes when its cold out. It doesn't burn any noticeable amounts of oil and stops smoking when things warm back up in the spring. If you were a diesel engine you'd smoke too if someone beat you to life when it's in the 20's
