Smile Towing Power

I am going to step up to Big Oil. I have been waiting for the New Stealth, but I also like the BTS setup. I know my pump is getting weak, I set off the ses light on a long grade. Does anyone have any expereince with the BTS?

Re: Towing Power

I've had my BTS Dual HPOP for nearly 3 years, roughly 30K miles, and have been 100% happy with it. I don't drag race the truck a lot or sled pull it any, but I think I do hammer on it pretty hard for a DD, and tow probably once a month or so. The only problem I have run into was about a month ago, a fitting on one of the braided high pressure lines developed a leak at the crimp. I called BTS once I found the leak and they overnighted me a new set of lines, all on their dime, no questions asked. Other than that one issue, which was easily and quickly resolved, I couldn't ask for anything else out of it...and before anyone says it, I have no desire for extreme ICP. The BTS HPOP setup does it's job, does it well, and doesn't complain.

Re: Towing Power

Jtharvey what kind of numbers are you making? I am wanting to get 325-350hp. I was told by Bean that I could get there with a Big oil, Stock inj and 1.15 ex housing. I wonder how much lag I would have with 1.15 ex.

Re: Towing Power

I was running 295 RWHP with chip on 80E, intake and exhaust....

I bet with Big Oil and proper tuning 325 would be achievable... 350 might be a bit of a stretch...

1.15 ex housing is the same as the van turbo... Some say its a bit more laggy, but with the right tunes manageable...

There is also a 1.00 non wastegated that might be a good option for you if you plan to keep with stock injectors....

Re: Towing Power

I plan on running my stock injectors until they quit. Then I might might go with Stage 1 Singles. Also I already looked and I do have PMR's. If I was to put a non wastgated housing on, would I have to worry about exceeding the safe boost limit of the stocker?

Re: Towing Power

I have been leaning more toward the turbo for my towing upgrades just because its less than big oil.
I think big oil would also be a good choice, I've heard good things about BTS and terminator

Re: Towing Power

the 1.00 or the 1.15, which ever you decide, will help bring down the boost a little.. That housing combined with the ATS housing you already have should give you a really good turbo setup that a lot of people like ( van turbo with ATS housing )

I'm guessing you're wondering about the power I made with stock injectors...because I'd estimate I'm ~450 RWHP right now with the B Codes.

However, with the stock injectors and everything else I have in my sig except for the headstuds, I was around 360 RWHP. The truck weighs 8000 lb and ran a 15.0 @ 87 mph, backed up by an identical run later in the day. The calculators here show 357 HP using trap speed. That was with nearly every other supporting mod - intake, exhaust, van turbo w/ATS housing, Spearco 7.3 IC, fuel system, BTS trans, BTS dual HPOP, and DP-Tuner chip.
