Re: What is the best clutch

I have been told that if you tow the the SouthBend CON OFE is awesome... if not towing the CON FE.... because the FE is strickly a "on and off" type of clutch....

but I THINK Charles has the FE and he tows....so

Re: What is the best clutch

The OFE drives nicer and is good to 500hp IIRC. The FE will hold more power but it's more agressive on engagement. It's really what you are willing to put up with as far as driving manners.

If that isn't enough you can step up to a double disk.

How far are you gonna take the truck? I would get a South Bend personally, but the specific model will change if you're gonna build the motor a little or alot.

Re: What is the best clutch

I just got my South Bend Iron Giant But that is WAY more than a street truck needs.

I would go ahead and get the double disk. I loved the way mine drove on the street before I went all nuts on the motor. Model depends on what you are going to be doing with the truck.

Jason, by Iron Giant do they mean you have to be an Iron Giant to bolt the clutch in, or you have to be an Iron Giant to disengage the clutch?

I personally don't mind the feel of the dual disc in the trucks I've driven, I wouldn't say it's something to let your grandma borrow to go to the grocery store though, lol.

BOTH! The box weighs in at 118lbs..... and I am sure it will give a new meaning to a firm peddle.
