Re: Need a Ext Gate

How do you figure what size you need?

And are they controlled by boost pressure, like an internal wastegate?

For a turbo that size, TN has a few options. Determine first what you are trying to control, and mounting locations.

We like the TN Evolution for a towing style set up with a custom spring set. For fine tuning, we'll install an in cab variable controller.

For something with some big fuel and boost, then you need a New Gen.

Re: Need a Ext Gate

Mike, the v-band gates are easier to plumb. Sure would be nice if you could put one on the turbo housing where it could vent drive pressure from both sides of your engine.

Limiting boost in a twin setup is easy. For a twin set up that 71 needs to be retired. Its too small.

You can always drill the housing and weld a gate to it. EBAY has some helpful tips on installing twins on a 7.3.

Hmmmm. Mike, I bet if you buy a gate from a site sponsor, you'll get some valuable advice on the wastegate and your turbo configuration.
