How Much Smoke...

I finally got around to installing the Stage II single-shots, and had Jody burn me a PCM & chip for them. Been running them for a week or so and...DAMN do they put out some smoke!

How much smoke should I expect from these? Right now, they haze pretty good even in the "stock" setting, and in "140"...the sun disappears, along with anything behind me.

The stock AD's with (basically) the same tunes didn't smoke near as much as these, and the bottom-end/mid-range power seems down a bit also, although the top end is better, with a few more PSI of boost at WOT.

I'm putting in a mechanical HPOP guage next week, so I'll have some readings to share. The rest of my Mod's. are in the sig.

Any thoughts or comments?

Thanks in advance to all...

Re: How Much Smoke...

My 38r manages to clean up most of the smoke from my hybrids (with aggresive tuning). I'm very surprised your 38r doesnt clean up the fuel on a set of stage 2s........hmm

now dont get me wrong, on a really hot setting mine will roll coal.

what file is it? 140?

That's what I said...hmmm.

I've double checked for any leaks (exhaust and intake side) and eveything's in good shape.

I was on a local highway, and with the cruise set at 75 mph, as I started up a 5-6% grade, I was very lightly hazing smoke. I was suprised to say the least. Never saw that before with the other sticks.

How much peak boost pressure are you seeing with the 38r and hybrids?

Re: How Much Smoke...

Maybe you got a set of Big boys by mistake

Nozzle size will have an effect on smoke levels

Peak boost for my setup is generally 40 psi. I've seen 42 on occasion.

I can smoke out the intersection with my DDP nozzled AC singles and any of my tunes until the H2e spools, then it will clear but my biggest program is 80 hp until the forged rods are in place. I am going to be live tuned in May to help out on smoke and mileage. I used to get 15-16 mpg around town and rural driving at 50/55 mph but now the best I can do on the freeway at 65 mph is 14 mpg.

Does DDP modify the AC's, or are they "stock"?

I was also getting about 15-16 mpg (combined city and hiway). I haven't ran any milage numbers yet, but I think mine's gone down a bit also.

Thanks...

Re: How Much Smoke...

What nozzle size and what's your ICP at WOT? Stage 2 singles should be right around 41 lbs and splits were around 38 lbs(DP Tunes).

Re: How Much Smoke...

I saw between 35-38psi with those stage 2's. They are swamps 175/173's, I never flowed them but they should be in the 180 range. There not a big set of stage 2's by any means???
