who has run hybrids and a 42r?

So......decided to step up on turbo. Gonna step up to a Garrett 42r. My number one main concern is driveability. I have heard that with the right tuning, it can be made to spool as quick as a 38r. I love the snap with the setup I have now, but obviously I still have fuel to burn.

I know housing selection plays a big part. Thinking of the 1.15...

Who has run this setup and what is your take?

P.S. 38r is already spoken for. anybody need up pipes? lol

I'll assume you consulted with the Wizzer already, and he is reading this for advice.

Re: who has run hybrids and a 42r?

I run the little 4294R with a 1.01 housing and an old set of hybrids. I think it pulls a little harder than the 38R under 1800 rpm and then spools very quickly to 40 psi at maybe 3/4 throttle in the daily driver program just getting on the freeway, more if you mash it. 50+ in the race program at WFO. My daughter drives the truck dailey with no problems in drivability or spool up. I need to check my back pressure to see if it's a problem and if I should go to the 1.15 housing. Dyno numbers in sig are with the 38. Will post new dyno numbers after this weekend with no other changes other than the 42 turbo.

2000,CC,4x4,auto

Some used and some home made stuff

458hp/923tq 04/14/07 dynojet dyno
490hp/1025tq 03/08/08 mustang dyno 10k rollers
03/08/08 1st runs ever, 13.5 & 13.264 @ 100.65mph screwing up both launches, 7600#'s, #2 only

Brian, with your in depth experience with the Garrett GT series of turbos what do recommend?
