Re: what does it take

at that level your gunna be needing rods and thats where it starts to cost the big $$$$ A solid 500hp truck is alot easier... your lookin at 1500ish for a turbo and like $3000 for some injectors plus a good tuner (Dp) and a bigger exhaust

Re: what does it take

Redfishman17, I don't think just a VB/TQ will last very long at that power level, He's gonna need a built trans and cooler, so add (~$3000) to your VB/TQ number.

Also He needs valvesprings ($100), a good intake ($120), and a decent exhaust ($600). If he wants the motor to stay together reliably, he probably should put rods in (~$2500), and while He's in the bottom, at least put in mainstuds (~$300) or a girdle (~1300).

So here we go:
BB turbo - 1700
Hybrids - 2500
headstuds - 725
fuel system - 700
custom chip - 400
built tranny - 4500
valvesprings - 100
intake - 120
exhaust - 600
conn rods - 2500
mainstuds or a girdle - 300-1300
pushrods - 325

So 14,500-15,500, plus maybe he needs some gauges (~$350), and I prefer an H2e or variant, so maybe add ~$700-1300 there.

It ain't cheap. I would say 14k-18k depending on what you want.

Re: what does it take

also true..... I was posting the easy way out.... I was thinking keeping the tunes mild (425-450hp) for daily driver and turning it up every once and a while for the strip, and yes, another good 3000 for the tranny.
