38r and ???

Well let me have your oppinions on a good street/strip compound setup. I was thinking 38r and 4294 but that seems to be a little close in size. So that would leave a 45 or 47. What would seem to be beter?

I know a lot depends on fuel and I was thinking 275cc stoked A's with a large nozzle but I may just go with B codes. That part is some what undecided.

I would even look into a tn setup but I cant find any info or compressor maps.

Re: 38r and ???

Dont mean to start any wars just want to make a decision once an be done. Its a lot of money to be throwing around and dont want to waste it on a junk setup. So if we can keep it civilized I would appreciate it.

Re: 38r and ???

have a look at charles set up...
makes me wish he could weld up an extra set
of plumbing pipes, and a shoe horn.

I believe it is a gt38r and a non "r" 47something

If your going with injectors that big you will need a bigger turbo than a 38r.

For a compund setup with the 38r being the 2nd stage? and a 45 or 47 as the first stage feeding it.

Re: 38r and ???

how would he need something bigger then the 38R if he is using that as the small turbo in a compound setup which means what 10psi out of it.

Re: 38r and ???

From my interpretation of charles post on this is :
basically with compounds your after something that spools fast , and provides a lot of air
anything bigger then something like a gt38r, reg h2e or even your stock turbo and you loose the quick spool,
anything smaller then a 47 and you loose the big umph your looking for.
well at least that is what my brain translated his post as.

now charles adds a lot more info on first and second stages, which I always get backwards, and much better and clearer, info on map layouts , and drive pressures...to explain why everything works .

another working twin setup is joey's, but really I don't know nothin' bout his
I know bwd sells a kit too.

Re: 38r and ???

Exactly. The 38r will spool quick but i need someone to explain what makes the 47 beter than the 45 or vise versa. Also what housings or version of the 47(08 or 18).

From what I see the 47's have a much broader map which would make it a good all around turbo...I think
