AFE2 question

AFE advertises itself and is promoted by vendors as being a cold air intake system. The baffle included with this system hardly seems efficient to me. Has any one tested the air intake temperature using the OEM sensor with it plugged into the baffle versus in the engine bay. Just curious how much cold air is actually getting to this intake.

Re: AFE2 question

there was a guy that insulated his afe2 with some kind of foiled insulation, claimed he notice a very minor improvement.

personally I think the lie-o-meter would notice anything the fastest.
but that is just a WAG.

Re: AFE2 question

I wouldn't worry as much about intake temps as I would CFM flow, the turbo is going to heat things up anyway with compression, even if you can get the intake to pull in fresh air from outside the engine bay, the difference on a diesel is almost unnoticeable. the best solution here would be to get the highest flowing intake possible with the least amount restriction before the turbo and call it a day.

Re: AFE2 question

The only place you would see any real differance is when at a stand still. Once your moving you would be amazed at the amound of air that moves thru the engine bay...

The numbers quoted in the linked post above are moving down the road at hiway speed.

Re: AFE2 question

Exactly what I am saying... When standing still there will be no differance, but once up to speed the differance will be noticable.

So you think that a 5-7ļ difference at the manifold is significant and noticeable?
