H2E vs HX50??

I know they are similair turbo's but are they the same? Same exhaust outlet flange (downpipe)? Same exhaust inlet? Compressor and Turbine wheels?

Any info you guys can give me would be great. Had a bead on an H2E with 17cm exhaust housing and they went to pull it off the shelf and it wasn't there. Now they have offered a HX50 for the same price.

Re: H2E vs HX50??

The HX50 is a better turbo. It just a more modern compressor wheel and this has benefits in regards to compressor efficiency, surge, etc...

I use to run an HX50 w/ Hybrids. Pretty good set up.

Re: H2E vs HX50??

I am planning on some stage 2's. I am building my own mounting and uppies for it. THe biggest concern with going to the HX over the H2E is I think I am gonna buy the downpipe. Other than that it will all be custom anyway. Also want to make sure spool and air flow will be the same as the H2E is a proven unit when it comes to the PSD.

Should be plenty. especially if they have a decent sized nozzle on them.

Re: H2E vs HX50??

I would imagine if you can run a H2e without injector upgrades the HX50 would be fine with stage2s

Re: H2E vs HX50??

THe H2E has more aftermarket support. But is a relatively small turbo, it is the same size as BB from Garrett as far as gas flow capabilty is concerned. Hx 50 is going to be of a larger CFM flow.

Re: H2E vs HX50??

from the very little info I have found there are two compressor/turbine wheel combo's for the HX50 one is 63/72mm and the other is 67/77mm. Not sure which one I am looking at just yet since I haven't heard from the place I am working with. The 63/72 is very close to the H2E but as stated by airflo not sure on housing options.

Does anybody know what compressor/turbine size is for the H2E?

Im running stock AB splits with a modded h2e 66/19, it spools as good as stock on my early 99. It should spool great with stage 2's.
