coolingmist need info

Hi Guys

1. What are the dangers of this Water/meth kit? ( I would mostly want it for cooling egts but I also want a safe performance gain)

2. How fast does the small tank go empty?

3. Would their be a way to mount the big tank on the frame?

4. What kind of performance gains can I expect while running it in a safe manner?

thanks,
Andrew

Re: coolingmist need info

No danger if you run water only. The danger increases with the % of meth you run. Yes, you can mount any tank you want that will fit on the frame. How fast you use water depends on what size nozzles you install, how many of them you install and at what pressure you run the water pump.

The benefit will be reduced EGTs. For towing heavy keep tuning the water until it just starts to quench the fire, then dial it back just a bit so it doesn't affect flame front propagation and you will have as much EGT reduction as you'll get with water alone.

40% meth gets me 40-50 hp on the dyno, that all I will run with my rods. I have a 8 gal tank in the tool box and it lasts me about 500-600 miles...

Re: coolingmist need info

cooling mist seems to be a nice kit. i will be putting on a kit very soon and plan to do a write up, but i dont think it will be cooling mist kit, more like the hypermax kit. i plan to use it for cooling only.

andrew- do you plan on spraying it all the time? i guess it depends on your goals. do you want it boost activated?

Re: coolingmist need info

Hey Mikey

What made you decide on a hypermax kit?

I would probably being spraying it most of the time. Yes I was thinking about boost activated or maybe the daul controller so when towing I can set it for egts. I was thinking having it engage at 8lbs. How does that sound? When Should it be turned off?

Would their be any danger running it most of the time with enough meth to make 40-50hp?

thanks,
Andrew

Mike make damn sure you also put a pressure switch inline with the EGT sensor for the on/off. I have seen his kit keep spraying after you get off the pedal with high EGT's. Send a PM to pwersnorter, and he can fill you in on the # of times he has hydrolocked his motor with it after a pull.

Andrew, that is what I am going to be running.

Re: coolingmist need info

weird...zane runs that kit every pass..no problems as of yet and i think it has like 100 passes on it... if i dont go hmax i will go to the egt activated cooling mist kit .

p.s. mark you may make more power but you will never be faster.

Re: coolingmist need info

Mike, for drag racing you will be okay, the motor still has RPM at the end of the track, when used in pulling, you come off the throttle and go damn nere to an idle real fast. That I why I suggest the pressure switch. Forgot you are draggin mostly.

My sig does not say ANYTHING that is not true. JK little bro. I do have less HP and I am slower.
