a little DiPricol help

ok bare with me...I am not a wiring guy!

but on the directions for my new DP optix it says the main power for the gauge AND the LED power should both be connected to a "igniton source"..... but to me that would mean the LED's will be on 24/7..... so should I run them to the dimmer switch like normal or what??????

Thanks for any help!

Re: a little DiPricol help

Did you get the wiring harness? If so it can get confusing.

Re: a little DiPricol help

I've wired a few sets of Optix's, if I remember right; red wire to 12v source, white wire to dimmer, and black wire ground.

Dennis at ITP would be the guy to ask on this though...

Re: a little DiPricol help

well there is a white and gray for the LED and red and black for main power....

I know what everything is and all but I didnt think a backlight should go to a plain ole key on source.....it would ALWAYS be on....

Re: a little DiPricol help

You got me. I used the harness which made it easier, alittle confusing. If I was at home(I'm 4 hours away) I would go look at the directions. I do remember that they said something about what your talking about. I called and they told me something different than the directions said. The direstion said what your talking about and the dude I talked to said that the other wire was for a ground. You might try that.

The gray is the ground I was talking about.

Re: a little DiPricol help

yeah I know that gray is ground.....just trying to make sure and clarify wether or not the LED's can be tied into the dimmer....even though LED's dont dim very well, I still want them to come on with the lights...

but thanks for the advice so far!
