GT-42 setup

Those of you that are running a gt-42 what kind of mounting setup did you use. Would I have to make something myself or is there a kit out there for it to bolt right up? Also what kind of boost #'s would I expect to see with this.

2001 F-350 4x4 cc, 4" mbrp cool duels, ts 6 pos., edge attitude, garrett bb turbo, procomp 6" lift, 37" toyo m/t's (R.I.P. 2-23-08)

Re: GT-42 setup

The boost would depend on how much fuel you have. But that turbo may be a bit big for stock injectors. You may better off with the turbo you have now. If you do get bigger injectors and that turbo you will more than likley run into problems with your powedered metal rods.

Re: GT-42 setup

Yes you would have to get a mounting kit fabbed up similar to the hyper max kit but fitted for the GT42 r. I'm seeing about 50 psi with Beans hybrids and it spools great and I dropped about 200 to 250 degrees on EGT's.

2000,CC,4x4,auto
some bolt on stuff from Bean & BTS
Some used and some home made stuff

490hp/1025tq 03/08/08 mustang dyno 10k rollers
03/08/08 1st runs ever, 13.5 & 13.264 @ 100.65mph screwing up both launches, 7600#'s, #2 only

Re: GT-42 setup

Diesel Innovations sells a kit for it. I see about 55-60psi with it. Great turbo imo.

Re: GT-42 setup

I peg a 60 lb boost gauge. Stock injectors and that turbo are NO match, that turbo is way to big for them. Get more fuel and that turbo spools real nice and the top end is endless.

Re: GT-42 setup

I just remembered about two years ago when I stated that a GT42R was capable of more power than any powerstroke had ever made I recieved nothing but steep criticism and bs from everyone.

It's now nice to see that Jason has proven that point for me.

Now we're all sitting around talking about running 42R's like it's common practice....

Funny how things work sometimes, lol.

I ran a 42R over 3 years ago, Danny has had one for at least a year and half maybe 2. Yes they are expensive but well worth it.
