Thumbs up 2000 F350 6 Speed

Couple weekends back I went up to Columbia and bought a 2000 F350 Crew Cab Single Wheel 4x4 with a 6 Speed. It was a new truck trade in at the Ford dealership and I bought it the day after they got it.

I have always been an Automatic guy myself as I hated having to shift gears all the time. But I also hate the autos around here when I am pulling a trailer as they shift up and down way more then they need to on the hilly and curvey roads.

So I have been looking for this exact truck for a while and when I seen it I decided to go ahead and buy it and hope I like it. I can say I have become a big fan of the 6 speed real quick and really do not mind the shifting.

First thing we did was slap a chip on it. I have run a couple tanks of fuel threw it since and it seems be be getting a steady average of a little over 17mpg. I was pretty happy with that as I have never gotten over 14 or 15 with any of my past trucks.

Then last Friday we put a S&B on it and fueled up and then last night I fueled up again and it was just under 20mpg. Next step is putting the new exhaust on.

So as of right now I am loving this 6 speed truck and I am wondering why I never got one before now.

I loved my six speed and would buy another one if the right truck at the right price ever presented itself.

Re: 2000 F350 6 Speed

No complaints on my 6-speed! The wife's auto was nice when we were driving around SoCal but otherwise it's handshakin' for me. 170K on my original clutch.

Re: 2000 F350 6 Speed

i have both... my auto dually and my 6 speed ex cab LB... i hate the 6 speed, but that also might be because the seat is so broke down its not comfortable to drive... congrats on the truck

Re: 2000 F350 6 Speed

Love my 6spd! Wouldn't want anything else to tow with. The only time it ever bugs me is when im in town with it. Can't beat picking your gears, and only downshifting if you say so. Memorial day weekend I got 18.5mpg hauling 4 fourwheelers up to the UP, I've been really happy with the fuel mileage.

I'm sure someone will chime in about a pcs on an auto though.
