SCT not writing tunes with Remote Start?

I bought an SCT tuner Saturday, brand new, and when I try to tune I get "ECM Unlock Failed", "Stock Upload Failed", and "No Tune Written" messages.

The truck is an 02 F250 7.3 with a Bulldog remote start system on it. My question is, could the remote start be messing me up here?

My only other thought is to take it to the dealer and have it reflashed as I believe the truck may have had a tune on it before.

Thanks!

Matt

Re: SCT not writing tunes with Remote Start?

I cant see why?
unless the remote start is interfering with the power supply to the pcm.
the remot start taps
the ignition wires, a few main 12v leads, the pcm tach line, a few door lock wires , parking lights, horn , and a ground. none of that should bother the sct writing.

the sct being new should be able to write the old tune in.
you could ask jody or elite, seems like they write tunes for the sct..
you may want a custom tune from them anyhow.

Re: SCT not writing tunes with Remote Start?

Thanks, eventually I would like to get into a custom tune.

The only thing that made me think remote start to begin with was the fact that the doors locked and then unlocked when you turn the key to on. I didn't know if that voltage would cause the tuner or the computer to think something wasn't right or something. I disabled that feature, and still the same affect.

But like I said, I have always thought that this truck might have had a tune on it before, so I think I'll take it to a dealer tomorrow and have them plug up, reflash if anything looks funny.

The only other problem I have come across is when I tried to upload the update I got off of the website today I got a message saying "Data Not Written" as if it didn't recognize the tuner. But even so, I should be able to put a standard tune on my truck no problem I would think.

Call sct 1st that is or should be free, reflash will cost money.

Re: SCT not writing tunes with Remote Start?

Plus it needs to work on a flashed pcm too.
For example if I decided to get single shot injectors , I would like a modified stock pcm flashed for stockish single shot tunes. That way if I ever pulled a chip or reflashed the performance tune off. I want a functional, normal.....ish truck.

Re: SCT not writing tunes with Remote Start?

Okay, today after work I removed all the software and everything my computer and started over. Reinstalled the software and the updater. I downloaded the latest Firmware and Tune Revisions. When I go to the updater and try to load the tune revision or firmware to the programmer, I get a message saying "Data Read Fail Device#0" and after clicking OK 9 times I get the message "Not A Valid SCT Device."

...any ideas? Calling SCT tomorrow if I get off work in time.

Re: SCT not writing tunes with Remote Start?

Personally, I would return the tuner to where I bought it. Call Tony at Total Diesel Performance, or Matt at Gearhead or ....... and get a custom tuned six position chip. You can switch tuning with the flip of a switch and get way better tuning to boot.
