HPOP Advice

Hey guys going to need to rely on your advice and expertise on this one.

2000 F250 7.3 Auto 4x4 with roughly 285K. Currently not running a tune (it was an old banks 6 gun that was just acting weird so we pulled it out and then the truck ran a lot better) I lost most of my oil on my very short drive to work. Bought some more just to be able to run it home. When I got home left her idling and crawled around looking for the leak and discovered that just about every plug on the thing HPOP is leaking including the supposedly "non serviceable" plug. (it looks to be the original HPOP with maybe replaced high pressure oil line. Mine are braided stainless steel)

After fighting this thing out and I am now at the point of deciding what direction to take:

1) rebuild kits. Looks like it would cost me about $125 for the rebuild kits on this thing.'

2) Replace with an upgraded unit. I never ever want to have to touch this part of the truck again, which is why i am leaning towards this option.

Pros and cons on both? Suggestions on what units? I hear great things about Terminantor Engineering but unfortunate this is my daily driver and until she is fixed I really don't want to keep having to ride my motorcycles in the rain for the 1-3 weeks that it would take to send them mine have it built and then returned. This truck will be retuned eventually with maybe a few other tasteful modifications, but she will never be a fire breathing drag strip monster.

Also what else should i be replacing/upgrading while I'm in here? Thought about replacing these stupid quick disconnects with normal fittings (I couldn't even get one apart even with the tool)

Go with a dieselsite adrenaline pump they are a great pump and the company stands behind them. I bought one from another company that ended up going belly up and it failed me after 3500 miles. Bought the dieselsite pump and have been very happy with it.

Re: HPOP Advice

Don’t bother rebuilding. She did good for 285k. I have a cncfab and dieselsite pump. Both work well.

Re: HPOP Advice

I second the diesel site adrenaline pump for the 7.3 I have had mine a little over two years and love it holds pressure and starts way better than my old 280,000 unit. Idles better.

Re: HPOP Advice

yeah i had it down to dieselsite and the first one I got and got the other cause it was 200 dollars cheaper. well I lost out on that bet big time. and spent a lot more then if I just did the dieselsite to begin with.

Sounds like the vote is pretty unanimous. haha

What else do I need to replace/upgrade while I have it torn apart?

Re: HPOP Advice

well thats a loaded question. if its already got the upgraded lines there's not much else. might reseal the fuel bowl while u have it out if there are any signs of leaks.

agreed that is a loaded question haha

My goal is to not have to go back in here for the rest of the time I own this truck. I am trying to see if there is anything else that can be replaced as preventative maintenance or performance orientated that can be done.

Re: HPOP Advice

you might replace the Ipr with only a motorcraft unit. its on the hpop and they do fail.
