EGT's while towing.

Total noob question here.

I just put in my isspro pyro gauge last week (on driver side manifold) and while idling the temps run around 300 which seems about normal and conformed with a digital temp gauge.

Pulled my 9800 lb fifth wheel this weekend

Cruise locked at 70 mph, 9.8 lbs boost, 2350 rpm = 950-1050 egt, is this within a normal range?

I ask because I just got a hydra to install and am afraid it will be running much hotter when I add more power.

Thanks guys

My setup

2000 f350 C&C 2WD DRW 4.10 gears
Automatic w/ trucool 40K
stock injectors
4" turbo back straight pipe
RR 6637 intake

Anything below 1100 is usually ok.

^^^ agreed^^^
you can't really go by idle, you want normal cruise temp.
at 55 mph with cruise set basically flat ground in central New Jersey, i see around 600 degrees.
pulling hills i can easily hit 1200+ degrees in 80 econo tune

Re: EGT's while towing.

I see the same temps on my as you have . I can hit 1100 empty pulling a big grade until I let out of it. On a big grade pulling I see 1200 for a second then i let out of the throttle. I'm also running a hydra and I love it along with a kc38r.

International says 1250* sustained...

Anything below 1250* is fine. Can tow all day at 1250*.
