Hydra questions.

I have a 01 7.3 powerstroke and just recently had to install a new engine. ( long story )

So in the install, I did some minor upgrades or had some existing items.
1. AFE intercooler pipes
2. AFE Momentum cold air intake
3. Wicked wheel 2
4. Complete 4 inch exhaust, with muffler
5. KT performance BELLOWED stainless up pipes
6. Diesel site intercooler boots
7. Riffraff stainless steel cross over pipe
8. The down pipe and bellowed up pipes have been wrapped with DEI titanium shield
9. DEI titanium turbo blanket
10. Turbo master mechanical waste gate controller
11. Edge CTS2 evolution 85401 edition. Which come to find out, it only has: STOCK, TOW, RACE AND EXTREME. Not very happy with this. It does not have an economy setting.
13. 6 inch deaver lift with 35x17 bfg

So the reason for my post or question:
Unfortunately the CTS2 does not come with an economy setting.
I have loaded the tow setting and the shifting is very strange. I used the race setting and it has a real HARD shift. Which I don’t like

I am pleased with the performance of the race setting, but feel as if this is not good for the transmission, for just normal daily driving.
The tow setting does not seem to provide any significate improvements, in normal/daily driving. I've put the edge back to stock and only plan to use it for the monitoring portion.

Based on the 4R100 HD transmission. I'm looking into buying the Hydra. Does anyone know, if the Hydra will have a program for the 4R100 "HD" transmission?

Re: Hydra questions.

as long as you tell whoever you are getting th etunes from the mods done to the truck and the fact you have the HD-4R100 trans, they will write the tunes to work with the different torque converter and internal parts.

but i seem to remember most tune writers automatically write for the HD trans for the past 10 years or so.

when i ordered the DP-5 11 years ago, Jody asked for my VIN and mods done and modified the tunes to fit the truck.

owner of almost to many fords.

If you want the moral high ground, make sure you're not standing on a hill of horsecrap.

I have a 03 f250, 7.3, HD4R100, with the Hydra. No special tunes, I just picked out of PowerHungry library. My truck shifts great. No problems at all

Thanks for info. Sorry for the redundant questions. But would anyone know if I should have any "selected" types of tunes, given the minor upgrades listed ( in 1st ) post. And after 11grand for a new crate motor, I'd hate to cause any issues. I have emails out to 1023 diesel and Cory @ cnc Fab.
I live in an emissions regulated State, so I'm limited to purchasing the Hydra system.

Re: Hydra questions.

Just use the standard hydra tunes. Load both the standard and the VB tunes to test out the shifting. No need for custom tunes.

Re: Hydra questions.

Did you have to program your hydra chip to the computer before hooking it up to your pcm

Re: Hydra questions.

No. You can install the chip with the USB adapter coming out of it. Mount on the steering column under the wheel and out of the way. Then it is literally as easy as plugging the usb cord into your laptop and hitting "load" (a button with an arrow) on the software. It is so easy.

Keep in mind though that once the chip is hooked up, if no tunes loaded yet, then truck will not start.

Re: Hydra questions.

Putting the Hydra in the "0" position defaults to the PCM and should run off of the loaded programming in there.
