Cool Air Intake

I am wanting to install a cold air intake. I hear K&N allow to much air in for the 7.3 / So I am looking a a good inexpensive air intake that works the best with a 7.3

Air Intake

No, youre half wrong. K&n allows good air flow but wayyy to much sand / dirt in.

I have it and I took it off to replace it with a 6637 filter. No more sand and dirt chit inside.

If you want cheap, get a 6637 filter and some elbows from Home Depot. That’s what mine is basically - abs plastic tube that cost several hundred dollars. Not worth it but looks nice. Wouldn’t buy it again if you could get away with Home Depot or cheap aluminum pipe bends.

Her is a cheap alternative than Home Depot as you’ve requested

If you want the best, go with an afe

Re: Air Intake

Hi riffraff Diesel sells a 6637 kit for 150.00 plus shipping. Just put it on my 7.3 bid difference from my stage 2 AFE Intake I had.

Re: Air Intake

go with the 6637 with a riffraff filter cover, and make your own tube out of PVC pipe. you do the whole job for under $100

You say there is a "big difference" between the AFE Stg 2 and the 6637 kit?
Which one did you prefer? That AFE kit looks really sharp and they seem to have documented flow data that's pretty impressive.
But yeah, it's pricey.....but my battery box is a bit of a mess too.

I'm looking to do this mod as well and I'm trying to get as many opinions as possible.
Cheers,
Steve

Re: Air Intake

An intake is an intake its not gonna make much of a difference haha. Brand doesnt matter and "more flow that factory" doesnt matter either unless you're in competition applications. Its all about filter quality.

Hi Steve I noticed free flowing with the 6637 mod and a 75 degrees drop also just what I noticed on my rig. I have stage two injectors 38r turbo adrenaline HPOP every fuel mod for a 7.3.
