I was wanting to buy a newer pcm for my early 99 i always see late model wrecks that is being parted out. I was wondering what year is the best year to get a pcm out of. i was thinking like a pmt or something. but i didnt want to have to go 2 diffrent places just to see wat kinda pcm is in the truck. thanks

Re: Newer PCM

I was thinking the PMT came in the 01 and 02 trucks but I dont know for sure. I think they only way to tell 100% is to look at them.

Re: Newer PCM

It is... With the newer PCM the tuning can get a lot better... And the shifting with the PMT is awesome.

Re: Newer PCM

The PMT is a 99.5-2001ish, Not 2002. You have to remove the pcm to get a look at the code. A little tough otherwise. Just remove the 10mm wire harness bolt in the engine bay below the hydroboost/master cylinder and then a couple 6-7mm bolts under the dash, behind the parking brake. PCM comes right out and you can read the sticker for the code. I didnt have the xle programing in mine but it still sucked! You will love the upgrade. Try car-part.com, you can input the exact PCM you want (year) and the code you want(choices in search results).

Early 99 (build 04/98) F250 XLT Supercab, 7.3 PSD, 4x4, 4R100, SRW, 6637 DIY intake, 4" TB exhaust, RCD leveling kit, 05 front facelift, 05 tow mirrors, 05 body badging, 05 Dash, Body molding delete, Difuser headlight harness, 20x10 XD Diesels(black), 305/55/20's, Stainless brake lines, Updated PCM, White face gauge overlay, 2002 seats.
