Wastegate or no?

Anybody running a 38r without the wastegate? I was considering buying a 38r with the the 1.15 exhuast housing non-wastegated, anybody running this? Any suggestions?

i was wondering the same thing, for a daily driver, tow rig. what about boost on the highway with out being wastegated?

2002 psd,4x4 ECSB

I think Dockboy did some BP comparisons with a 38R and an H2E a while ago.

No wastegate but stock injectors. I see 33~34psi max, no problems.

Having a functional wastegate depends entirely on how much fueling you have.

For example, if you are running a 38R on stock injectors, then you have zero need for a wastegate... even with a 1.0 housing.

If you're running large hybrids and pushing well over 40 psi of boost on a 38r..... then you need a wastegate..... or a bigger turbo.

With stock fueling i see no need for a wastegate.

At 40psi, I am seeing about 54psi backpressure with a 1.0 housing.
