Dashdaq digital/analog gauge display - Scangauge/AE combo?

Anyone have any expeirnce with the Dashdaq gauge in a PSD? Greg on FTE posted a link to this, I have never seen it before but it does look like a pretty cool option. It would be nice to hear from anyone who has any experience with this box on a PSD.

http://www.dashdaq.com/features/gauges.htm

I only spent 15 minutes on the website but I saw ICP, duty cycle, Cyl Rot Velocity, etc listed on the parameter list. Here is a link:

Ford enhanced data list

It's a bit pricey ($549), but it offers alot:

optional GPS
dowload different skins/gauge types
MP3 player
Video Player
data logging
diagnostics
video games

Re: Dashdaq digital/analog gauge display - Scangauge/AE combo?

Holy panoly batman, I clicked the ford link and licensed parameters and my thumb gave up scaning on my phone browser. Pretty sure 90% won't work with a 7.3. Most of the stuff like spark advance, 2nd row seat belt tension no one will care about. But the acelometer from the pcm prob won't either. There was an edge unit that had a few feature like that at one time and a lot worked for the 6.0 but not 7.3. Prob pcm and lack o sensors.

But it does look interesting

personally I would just stick with AE and a scan guage.

The Dashdaqs are what Spartan uses for the 6.4, I've heard that they have the ability to be used on a 7.3 but I'm not sure how many signals you could monitor. I love mine, the quality and view is awesome and you can watch waaaay more stuff than you need to. There are literally hundreds of things to monitor. I just dont know how well they would work on a 7.3.

Re: Dashdaq digital/analog gauge display - Scangauge/AE combo?

Greg(gbroehl1) on FTE has one on his 7.3L and it looks like it has worked very well for him. Here is some of the info he posted. I asked him to come over to PSN and share his experience with this wild gauge/processor thingy.....You can select from a list of "gauge skins" for the display and modify them with the software. He has set it up to monitor some of the standard gauges and a GPR, EOT,ICP, Duty cycle, and set range alarms.

This pic is with the engine started but the glow plugs are still on and thus drawing down on the batteries to 11.5 volts or so. (red light)

Once the glow plugs turn off the full voltage of 14+ volts returns. (green light)

You will notice the TFT is highlighted on the right as its temp is below a threshold I have set to remind me to be friggin careful prior being up to temp. I have also set audio and visual alerts if certain things like EOT or boost breach a high side threshold I have set.

The only work involved was setting up the gauges visually to meet my needs. It took several days of trial and error to learn how to use the skin editor, but I got it down pat now The install of the DD is super simple. Connect it to the computer so that all of the correct software and licensing can be installed via the DD website. Then connect it to the ODBII port and tell it to detect the signals. Once detected just go to the gauge display and tap a gauge to be brought to a screen where you assign a signal to the gauge and set any thresholds/audio alerting.

It came with a suction cup mount for the windshield. I have mine at the bottom left where most of you have your gauge pillars.

Here is a list of the actual devices (useful and not) that the DD identified on my 2001 7.3. It should be the exactly same info that AE can see.

Re: Dashdaq digital/analog gauge display - Scangauge/AE combo?

It came with a suction cup mount for the windshield. I have mine at the bottom left where most of you have your gauge pillars.
Thats the only part I dont really like so far......seems kinda "cheezy" or something for such a fancy device.....

I can see someone breaking in the truck and snatching it, thinking its a $150 navigation unit.

Friend of mine had a square Edge unit or something in his 6.0, and it had a plastic "pod" made for it, painted to match the dash....It needs something like that IMO.

Lots of guys on here would want to see more than 20# of boost on the gauge too...
I wonder if you can change the "range" that it displays?

It has a standard AMPS mount on the back so the possibilities are almost endless.

That would be nice, but until the 7.3 community starts using it (I'm the only one so far as I know) no one is going to spend the time and energy creating a custom pillar mount.

The ranges on all of the gauges are custom set by the user (me). I won't have a chip until the spring so I don't have need to see higher than 20 until then. Once chipped I will bump the 20 to 25 or 30 and be all set. It will take me about 15 seconds to update.
