piston ?'s

if i remember correctly, i read on here that doing something to the piston bowl helps relieve something. can someone explain a little more on this.

1999.5 f350 xlt 4x4-afe stage ii intake, wicked wheel, 4" hog performance exhaust, dp tuner chip, 8" lift with 40's, arb's front and back, etc.

2002 excursion limited 4x4- afe stage ii intake, 4" hog performance exhaust, and dp tuner f5 chip

2005 vw jetta tdi- q loader chip for now

are you thinking radiusing (sp) the lip on the bowl and hot spots

Your not talking about where they are altering them to lower compression a bit are you.

Early 99 f350 4x4 crew cab, auto. pmt2 pcm
2001 cup holder ,T500, MAX AC ASSIST AC mod, Diy Twin tymar, TS chip, Powerslots & Hawk pads, ford AIC, ..... with big fat want to list.

All I will say is the reduced mahles suck to start in 30* weather so think about it on a daily driver mine has been parked more than driven the last few weeks.

97 crew cab shorty-4x4 Lots of mods .

I got a set of .010 decked pistons that are .020 over. Any advice for me on things I should do to them let me know. Thinking about ceramic coating. Shooting for around 500 hp.

96 Ford F-350 200 cc's, Electric fuel system, TS chip, 17 oil pump, Banks intercooler, 3" intake manifolds, SNOW Water-Meth system, South Bend DxD 3600, Banks brake, 4" stacks. Tuff country ladder bars.

so what is the best compression ratio? what is stock? is doing this to the pistons just for high hp? just trying to learn something.

You have other issues, or the compression was set much lower than intended. What was the actual measured compression at build time? Measured piston protrusion?

Setting compression by using a lower compression height piston rather than bowl work will make a lazy motor.

Everything was left alone. Doesn't seems to lazy !Machinist this was thrown together to get my truck up where I was.
