Turbo Question

I bought my truck a few months ago, and im trying to figure out what all has already been done to it, I took it to the dealership they told me that the turbo is aftermarket, on the turbo it says garrett, do they only make one turbo for the 7.3? if not is there a way I can tell what one it is? it does have a number on it but short of calling garrett and asking them I cant find anything on the internet, any insight will be helpful, theres a lot dont to this truck and I just dont know where too start haha, so im sure I will have more questions like this. Thanks!

Re: Turbo Question

Take some pictures of it.

If only those who knew what they were talking about replied, this thread would still be on page one.

Re: Turbo Question

Doesn't the stock turbo have a 3" intake and a 38R have a 4" intake?

Just measure the diameter of the intake side of the turbo. That should tell us which one it is.

That is the A/R on the exhaust housing, and the stock SD turbo has a .84 housing.

The van housing is a 1.15 A/R.

Re: Turbo Question

Stock turbo says Garrett too. They make the stock turbo as well as the GTP38R. There is a stock vs GTP38R comparo thread on this forum, that may help you too.
