Re: spooling...what causes it?

when you put a load on the engine in order to get the turbo "lit" so that there is almost no turbo lag.

Re: spooling...what causes it?

others will chime in .. but spooling is the amount of time it takes to build boost.. like lets say your sitting at the lite an it turns green you floor it.. well the truck goes but your not really building boost maybe a few seconds till it builds some boost an the truck really moves..

the down pipe (outlet) from the trubo doesnt really matter.. its more the size of the turbo..

Re: spooling...what causes it?

the pressure of the exhaust (back pressure) spinning the turbine wheel of the turbo spinning the shaft to the compressor wheel that forces fresh air into the engine and causes the wistle. thats it in a nutshell. theres more to it but thats the basics. post turbo doesnt really matter but a bigger dp just makes it flow better
