opieg01 build

Hey guys looking for some imput and info. I am getting a list together for a 450-500 hp, would love to get over the 500 mark. I am looking for something that I can tow with around 10k and still have fun at pulls and on the track. Heres a list I put together after looking around and talking to people.
casserly 235 80%
Regulated return
38r 1.15 exhaust housing with bellowed up pipes
910 valve springs
ARP head studs

Does anyone have any links on how to make my own RR or full fuel system? I have a buddy at napa that can make any hose I need.
I have heard nothing bad about the 38r but since I am needing new up pipes would it be worth it going with a differnt turbo set up? H2E, modded H2E, qssb, gqssb or any other turbo? Trying to keep it around the 2000-2500 dollar range for whole turbo setup. I am lost when it comes turbos.
Any of you just install valve springs and not push rods? I heard its good to have a week link just incase the valve meets the piston.
I know alot of you guy are already bangin, at or above 500, and I am lazy and just like to get it right to first time lol. Thanks

Re: opieg01 build

If your wanting over 500, your best bet is to go with a new turbo set-up. GT42, Modded H2E..... you get the picture. It has been done with the 38r, but its gonna be maxed out.

Installed my Homemade RR this weekend!!! - Powerstroke Nation

That is the link to my Homemade RR set-up. Good Luck!

Re: opieg01 build

Dont forget to throw a good fuel pump/system in there...

And maybe go with some 100% nozzles? But not sure on that one.

Re: opieg01 build

Thanks for the link. Has anyone had any problems gelling up with a aftermarket fuel system? I live in SD where its currently -6. I always mix in Howes for -32* weather and never gelled but just woundering. I would like to delete my fuel bowl and put a 2 micron filter post pump. Any body got napa part numbers for the 2 micron filter and base? I have a air dog so I wont need a water seperator.
What are some good pumps?

Re: opieg01 build

Another thing I would like to ask is for you guys that tow in the mountains what turbo would you recommend? Stuck between a Modded H2E and a 38R. Just woundering if its worth the extra $700 for the modded h2e. Mostly looking for a good pulling setup. Anyone running 235 or 238 injectors have any comments?

I love my 38r and 238 hybrids

Also for a fuel pump I like the Walbro. Its cheap and works.

Re: opieg01 build

i would go ahead and do chromoly push rod's with the spring's and all your other goodies that way you wont have to worry about it.

and the moded qssb looks really nice. it might be in my near future for a 500+hp setup.

give the gqssb a good look. the moded h2e also works very well.

On the hunt for another truck....

What are your mods?

How are both down low with hybrids?
I pull a 8k trailer up switch backs in the big horns going 35-55 mph and woundering about low end performance.

Looks like a really nice turbo but not to friendly to the pocket book, but hey who said modding a 7.3 is cheap?
