Injector building discussion.

Anyone care to discuss building their own injectors? If not, please don't fill this thread with hate.

Re: Injector building discussion.

I'd like to take a set of ad's and make them hybrids of the 230cc to 250cc range. Actually I want to take my stage II's and put stock nozzles on them and sell them to a friend as 160cc singles. Then use my 100% nozzles and a good set of ad's to make hybrids.

AA or AD injectors either way the same modifications are made to the injector internals to make Hybrids. There are several different sizes that can be produced also. Does your friends truck have single shot programming, or is it an OBS.

Re: Injector building discussion.

Do you have access to some precision tools and a surface grinding machine? There are a few checks to make before starting an overhaul.

Re: Injector building discussion.

I have a lathe with a tool post grinder but not sure if thats accuarate enough. My Dad works part time @ a machine shop so I shouldnt have any issues getting some work done.

My friends truck is a 2001 and would just buy a chip for the singles.

Re: Injector building discussion.

You will laugh but I have a water cooled valve grinding machine that cut in graduations of .001. I can dead nut every measurement with patients.

The parts are hardened steel. you need a good grinding machine with a hard rock. I don't know how you feel about your lathe, you could try to find a similar setup somewhere as to not ruin your lathe with the small grinding specs. I have a jig that I ground out to grind the back seat shims, and a holder for the valve bodies. The valve grinding machine is already set up to grind any other part I might want to grind.
