Oil Feed From HPOP Resivoir

Any reason or drawbacks feeding oil to the atmosphere charger from the hpop res? I have a gen3 style pump with the old style t444e resivoir and it has plenty of holes in it to feed the charger and run an auxillary feed line to.

I don't see why not, on IH school buses they run an oil feed line from the HPOP resorvior to the air compressor.

As long as you have an aux. feed line like the Gen3, I say go for it.

Re: Oil Feed From HPOP Resivoir

Am I crazy or does the oil to the HPOP reservoir bypass the oil filter?

If so, could that be a concern for a turbo spinning at 100,000 rpm's?

I always thought that, too, oil goes right from the pump up to the HPO res, BUT all the oil gets filtered eventually anyway.

As long as you have an aux supply to the HPO res you'd be fine. Then again, you could just run the aux feed line to the charger.
You do not want to pull more oil from the res w/o additonal feed to it with a Gen3 type pump.

True, never thought about that. The main reason I was wanting to do it was to try and keep from having lines running all over the engine bay as there is no place to tap in for oil on the passengers side.

IMHO It would be best to keep all the oil going to the reservior reserved for the injectors... Some breeds are very oil hungry... You can easily use one of the ports from the drivers side and run the hose over.

I would do that too, Jake. People add auxillary oil feeds to the HPOP area for a reason, not cuz there's a bountiful supply of oil to be had there.
