mechanical fuel pump

I just got a psd and it has a mess of miles on it idling a bit rough and so on. It is more or less going be a economical toy. I am going to change it over to electric fuel pump but unsure what the removal of the oem pump brings. Besides the obvious is there any adapter that drives the pump from the cam that needs removal or do I just pull the pump and that's it.

Re: mechanical fuel pump

just remove the pump and get a freeze plug to put back in the hole. Of course you will have to redo the rest of the fuel system as well, but I figure you already are aware of that. Nothing special in there.

Re: mechanical fuel pump

It is a 7/8's freeze plug that you need. The wiring you can remove or tie up. I believe there is just the fuel bowl heater and the water in fuel light, neither of these have to be hooked up for the vehicle to function properly.
