Cat C7 accert injectors in 7.3??

okay i take HD diesel at night at Wyotech. Last night some classmates were lookin at some of the C7 Accerts we have and they noticed the injectors are about the same size as 7.3 injectors well more like identical. So i was wondering if maybe anyone on here could have access to more info on these injectors. I will have to go and get the code for the engine tomorrow and i wil post it up asap. I know all this sounds crazy but i would like to know just to satisfy my curiosity.
Thanks

What's the part number on the injector? Or the engine arrangement part number, should be on the block somewhere.

Re: Cat C7 accert injectors in 7.3??

I've looked into this in the past. It's been a while but I think some of them were just SD splits, some were larger like Split Shot B codes I think, which aren't really desirable. But anything with "CAT" on it triples the price. $215 +- for new PSD injectors and $500 for new CAT injectors. Basically the same thing.

Good luck finding cores too. PSD cores = $50 each, CAT cores = $200+ each, if you can find them.
It's not Caterpillar Yellow, it's Caterpillar Gold...

There is also a larger CAT injector that is not a drop in.... not even close, its longer and has a single larger solenoid on its side. I've got one at home all dissasembled looking for ideas and useful off the shelf parts.....

Not sure about that - for that to happen something noteworthy has to be found..... I bet I have had that thing for over a year now.

You guys might be real suprised to know how much stuff is purchased for R&D "behind the scenes" that no one ever talks about. I know my bill is pretty high..... tips, springs, p&bs, machine shop fixturing, specialized processes (EH, EDM, micropolishing, grinding, honing, etc...), testing, etc.... all because at the end of the day the problem is solvable - its just that the solution is not readily apparent and there is no single silver bullet. It needs to work in harmony and have the correct balance of wants and desires with trade offs and concessions.

Re: Cat C7 accert injectors in 7.3??

The C7 is a MUEI injector (going off memory here) and it's significantly different.

Besides, it's a smaller motor than a 7.3 so where are we going w/ this again?

Might also add that excellent injectors for the 7.3 are currently available from several vendors and they just drop right in so why bother?

I'm officially...Stroke-less.
