Injector Noise

I have installed a set of new (to me) injectors about 400 miles ago and I always thought I heard a weird noise at a idle. Kinda like a tick and only from the driver side front of the motor. Well last night I finally went through a drive through so the driver side of my truck was up against the building and you could hear the ticking clear as day.

It goes away with throttle input (probibly just cant hear it) and it has does it with 2 different tuners so I think its just somthing off in one of the injectors. Do different colored solinoids mean anything? I have one that was dark brown/black while the 7 others were different. Is there any clearance issue's in a injector that would cause a ticking noise?

I forgot to mention that the ticking sounds like it follows the rythm of the motor. so I know its only one hole by the sound of the engine.

Re: Injector Noise

No fuel system yet, I was kind wondering about that. I never had it with the split shots though....

The color of the solenoids mean nothing. Since you have modified injectors the codes on them also mean nothing.

Do you have any codes? Can you run the buzz and contribution tests? What do you mean by ticking noise? What is your exhaust doing when you hear the noise? Any excess smoke? color? Etc.....

Thats kind what I thought, just wanted to make sure.

I would have too drive to a buddys house like 50 miles or so to be able to do those tests. The ticking noise almost sounds as if its under the valve cover. Imagine a exhaust leak on a chevy 350 with a bad header gasket. tick , tick , tick all with the rythm of the engine. Or maybe a loose rocker arm back when I used to run solid lifters. The motor runs fine and makes good power (Dynoed just over 400 HP) one week after the install.

What are you up to this weekend? I think im taking my blazer out to prairie city and hittin the mud for a while in the morning/afternoon on saturday or sunday. So after that or whichever day I dont go im pretty sure we can do whatever tests you want. I will probably be over at my buddy's house in roseville anyways most of the weekend. I think that would be a little closer for you if you go down 70/65, he is right off 80 at riverside. (You probably know where that is, roseville cycle is right there). Just give me a call closer to the weekend.
