My 2001 F250 (7.3) has, in the past two weeks, started turning over rapidly but not starting. Only when the foot pedal is depressed several times while cranking does the engine fire. Any ideas? This thing has been bulletproof until this with only normal oil & filter changes and NO engine issues at all. Everything on the truck is original.

Re: Help?

Without knowing anything else about the truck I would start by testing the glow plug relay and the glow plugs.

Pumping the pedal does nothing until the engine is running.

Re: Help?

Thanks, I will have that looked at. The depressing of the "pedal" seems to be coincident with the engine starting, but as I understand it that is a wire system not a mechanical system, but it sure seems like after much pedal stomping it will finally light.

Thanks again at least now I have a starting point.
