Best 7.3 Mods

I am fairly new to the diesel world. I just bought a 2002 F-350 7.3 with 200,000 miles. This is my first 7.3. I had a 6.0 that gave me all kinds of issues so I decided to go with the reliability of the 7.3. This is 100% stock and has never been modded. I am looking for some info on the best mods for the truck or if I would be better to just leave it bone stock. I already plan on putting a 4 inch turbo back and a 6637 filter but am looking for some more information and advice.

Re: Best 7.3 Mods

Also curious myself, I bought a mild modded 97 7.3 dually, bigger turbo, chipped, back pressure valve eliminator, and an OBD2 terminator scanner gauge, and few other things.

Quality gauges. Isspro or autometer. Or a monitor like the cts.
6.0 trans cooler
Modded valve body and new torque converter
Ww2, bd wheel or the Riff Raff billet compressor wheels.
Then a ts6 chip or the hydra.

Re: Best 7.3 Mods

Intake, exhaust, gauges, and a tuner are the most common first mods people do. It really wakes the truck up and you will actually enjoy driving it. We can help you out with all this if you are interested.

Another wise thing to do would be general maintenance stuff. Fresh oil/filter, fuel filter, trans fluid, coolant, etc. Kind of gives you a fresh start, and you will be able to start your own maintenance log. This stuff gets overlooked a lot of times, when in reality, this is what keeps the truck rolling.

Pass on the stacks... You will have much more fun with injectors and a tune

Re: Best 7.3 Mods

Thanks for all the info. I will most likely get a 4 inch turbo back straight pipe first and then an intake after that.

Re: Best 7.3 Mods

If your on a budget you can just cut the muffler and cat out and install a piece of 3.5" tubing. Should run you around $50. The stock exhaust is good to almost 400 hp I believe. Your at around 250 hp now
