Boost

I have a stock set up with an aftermarket ballbearing turbo. Nothing crazy. How much boost should I be producing. At wot I'm only getting 10 and I feel like I should get more

Re: Boost

Sounds like you have a boost leak with only 10 psi. I'd look into a leak tester to see if it's a clamp/hose etc.

Re: Boost

Check all of your connections on the boost side. Your preload pressure on your wastegate needs to be at least in the 22-25 psi range. On my stock turbo and 38r, I tightened the WG all the way down so that it couldn't open. I didn't have enough injector for it to matter.

Re: Boost

If you have the GTP38R BB turbo you need to be running a chip at least 50HP. Otherwise you'll actually see a drop in boost. I assume you are running a chip and are not stock?

Re: Boost

10 psi is much too low. You should be around 26-28psi with a tune on there and stock injectors. In my stock tune with a 38R, I can hit 24psi.

Boost or drive pressure leaks for sure. Pressurize the system and spray soapy water on all connections to check for leaks. Take a look at the up-pipes for any soot at the connections.
