MPG Suggestions

I have read a ton of threads on here about guys getting 14-18 mpg. For the last 5 months I have been using a mpg app to keep track of the truck in my signature, The best I can get is 11.7 highway 10.4 in town and 9.5 towing. These seem very low compared to most guys on here. Any suggestions ? Thanks

Re: MPG Suggestions

I was thinking the stock gear ratio is a little too high for my 35's but wouldn't I get better hwy mpg if that was the only problem ? are you guys all running straight pipes ?

Re: MPG Suggestions

Can u look at the axle code in the door? then post that and we can tell you what gears u have if they are OEM. You should get better mileage than that...unless you are doing burnouts from lite to lite and always driving up hill...heck my bad mpg's are in the city here in Houston and I average 16.6 but then I drive a 2wd single wheel but it still weighs in at 7140 lbs full of fuel.

have you checked your ebp sensor and tube? many claim improvement in mpg when they clean out the tube and sensor.

Re: MPG Suggestions

I read L73 10 5 9H06

I guessing the first number under the dirt/bolt is a 3 so it looks like it is a limited slip 3.73 with a 10.5" ring gear. Built August 6, 1999. Can anyone else confirm this?

*edit.....if you had a door tag under axle it would show C4, limited slip 3.73

others are C5 LS 4.10, C9 LS 3.55
