Up-pipe bellows modification

Has anyone ever modified the stock up-pipes or the hypermax kit so that it has bellows instead of the donuts. I was thinking if I had some flanges to fit in place of the donuts I could weld some bellows in the up-pipes.

Or I thought you might could just weld the bellows to the collector.

Anyone ever try this or know where to get bellows or flanges. I guess a machine shop could make the flanges.

Why not weld up some flex pipe and keep all the oem fittings? Cheaper and less complicated. Not my stuff, just found it on the web.
He got the flex pipe at JC whitney, go figure....?

I don't know why that person put flex pipe in there......it's not like he got rid of the actual problem. The stupid donuts are still there.

To be honest he did get rid of the "Actual" problem as the problem is the expansion and contraction of the pipe loading and unloading the donut which causes them to fail over time. You can see the wear on the pipe over time.

The flex pipe takes up the movement in the system relieving the stress on the donuts.

You could just get these, and get rid of the problem altogether: Diesel Innovations - Products

I'm running a set of those right now. Looking at switching to a QSSB.

Re: Up-pipe bellows modification

i have to ask... for an explanation for the Need to have the Flex pipe...

i can understand heat and expand, but does it move enough to require the piece of flex pipe?
