Power Heated/Turn signal mirrors

This might be in the wrong section but....

I have a 2003 with the 7.3L and I was curious... Since Ford switched motors in 2003.5, I was wondering if I could put 2005 power/heated/turn-signal mirrors on my truck. I looked at the wiring diagrams online, but its not the same as looking at the actual diagram itself.

I'm gonna look at the paperback diagrams at work tomorrow and see what I can find out but I was just curious if anyone else has made this conversion. From what I see, I don't think its a "plug-and-go" situation... Any input/experience is greatly appreciated.

Andy

Re: Power Heated/Turn signal mirrors

I know they'll fit, I'm just wondering about what I have to do for wiring and how long/painstaking the process is.

Re: Power Heated/Turn signal mirrors

It took me acouple of hours to install and run wires for my 08 mirrors, but i also kept all of my wires nice & neat and in loom.Just find your wire loom for the front lights under your hood and test the wires and tap in there.

Re: Power Heated/Turn signal mirrors

Ahhhh good man! Never even crossed my mind What about the heated mirror part? Do you splice there too?

I've definitely felt dumb before, everyone has, but I really can't believe I've never thought of that!

Re: Power Heated/Turn signal mirrors

Just run a "key on" switched hot wire to the wire in the mirror for the heated mirrors. Switch on, 12v hot you've got heated mirrors.
This is, if the mirrors are heated.

Re: Power Heated/Turn signal mirrors

Took me about an hour and it was done. Toggle switch for the heated mirror part 2 lines out and to each turn signal for them and one to the under dash wire for the running lights.

Re: Power Heated/Turn signal mirrors

Thanks for you guys' help! I'm looking at mirrors now and they are A LOT more expensive than I thought... Even for new mirrors with my Ford discount it would be around $400 for a set. Besides finding a truck with a salvage title is that what I'm going to have to pay for turn signals?!

Granted my power mirrors don't work but, daaaaammmmn!!
