putting new 7.3 in my truck and have??

Hey everyone! I recently picked up a 2000 7.3 engine with 150xxx on it to swap into my truck. I am going to be changing some things before it goes in. So far im going to changing the
1. Water pump
2. Oil pan and seal
3. All the boots
4. engine mounts
5 up pipes

Is there anything else I should change while its out or parts that you guys would recommend to do while it's out? Thank you in advance!!!

Don't mess with the head gaskets unless you know for a fact they are leaking. 7.3 head gaskets rarely ever fail.

X2 on the oil cooler gaskets. I just did mine at 200k and it's a pain in the a$$ to do in the truck. Also if the heads are not leaking don't mess with them!

Oil pan, rear main, and head gaskets hardly ever leak. If it ain't broke...

Gut the EBPV on the pedestal, or for $100 replace it with a non-EBP pedestal.

Oil cooler o-rings for sure - ignore all the other suggestions you've read except for the oil cooler o-rings!

Re: putting new 7.3 in my truck and have??

I have to disagree that the rear main seal hardly ever leaked that's is a spot known to leak on 7.3s. Change the rear main seal, the front seal, and do your oil pain and oil cooler deal. Another thing I would strongly consider is doing head studs while it's out because it's super easy to do. Just find the torque pattern online somewhere and simply unscrew one bolt at a time and then put the head stud in, just go one by one and it shouldn't take you any longer than a hour. I agree not to change the head gasket because that things had 150k miles of heat and crud sealing it up right now.

Re: putting new 7.3 in my truck and have??

I'd still do oil rail plugs. The front two are cake with motor in as for the back two, have fun. Been there. They're like 20$ if that for the o rings, and 20$ for a piece of mind. Worth it in my book.
