Am I on the right track?

Maybe I should have put this in the OBS forum...... Sorry...

ANYWAYS

I'm currently rocking a relatively stock OBS but I'm wanting to do a 400+/- build but still remain near stock reliability. My spending limit is around $20,000

Already set up a date with BTS to have a tranny built.

I'm thinking of the fallowing:
Irate Diesel Borg Warner S366 or S468 kit (still making my mind up, I hear the 400 series really last, so I may go this route)

BTS tranny is already lined up

T500 or an adrnenaline HPOP

ARP head studs

Electronic fuel system

6.0 intercooler (they're cheap and easier to find than 7.3 intercoolers, I think they'll fit in an OBS... Input on that one please?)

New push rods from smith brothers

New valve springs from comp cam unless I find something better? I heard Hypermax makes valve springs and they're suppose to be pretty awesome

Thinking about Swamps 160CC/100% injectors (Awesome looking warranty)

Debating on getting DP tunes or just getting my TS6 I currently have reburned by swamps, likely go with DP.

Is there anything I'm missing? I know it's fully possible to have a 7.3 with this kinda power and still have near factory reliability, I've been reading on here for years (but just now made a profile) lol

Re: Am I on the right track?

I thought about getting a crate engine. Not sure how much power they can handle... Safely, What ever happened to the black momba?

Money really isn't an issue... Within reason. I'm 21, single, hardly any bills and I make a pretty satisfying salary. Same token, if I'm going to be putting alot of money into this thing I expect it to outrun the new Cummins and powerstroke.

Re: Am I on the right track?

the two links i posted are not crate motors...there better,,,.i wouldn't waste my time with a crate motor when swamps can build me one (the first link i posted) to last at the power level im at right now.....with that said your list looks good for 400+ HP

Re: Am I on the right track?

400hp, from my understanding, won't outrun a new Cummins or power stroke if they are running mild tunes.

Re: Am I on the right track?

For that money you could build a 600+ horse truck. 300/200's, s468, honey badger hpop, bts, competition fuel system. If you want to stay lower in the HP range you could do 175/80, s366 and a honey badger jr

Re: Am I on the right track?

But how reliable is a 600+ HP 7.3? This is my daily driver, I travel the country with it

Re: Am I on the right track?

if I had 20k I would buy again> 238/100 from P.I.S., t4 setup, live tuning, fuel system, hpop from dyno proven, tranny, and some other goodies! maybe $12k and save the rest
