What clutch?

I sold my SB clutch that I hadn't installed yet cuz I had a buddy in need for a clutch bad. What clutch will hold up to my current setup? It'll be my dd and I'll pull/race it rarely. I want it to hold the power and a few boosted launches but don't need a stiff clutch as I sit in traffic on my commute home. Not loyal to SB or valair just looking for the best setup. Do I need a dual disk or single? Steel or ceramic? Thanks for the help

Re: What clutch?

I honestly would say another SB, I think ceramics are too grabby for a dd, and unless your racing duals are too

Re: What clutch?

I love my SB street dual disk but I don't know if it would hold up very long to 400/400's if it was me I would go with a SB Iron giant

Re: What clutch?

I run a sb. Single disc. One side is organic the other is ceramic. I forget which one it actually is but it's not to stiff for a dd. U can slip it some but grabs good.

Re: What clutch?

Your going to need a dd clutch for that kind of power. Just phone south bend and get them to recommend a clutch.

Re: What clutch?

How s your tuning? If it throws a lot of torque early (and I know with 400's it will to some extent) you might need a dual regardless

Re: What clutch?

I've not installed the parts yet. There's no way a stock clutch will hold this setup. The clutch is the last thing I need before I tear it all apart. I've got a hydra chip with php tunes. Will and gearhead and swamp tunes also

It's a 300k stock bottom end so the last thing I want is gobs of torque down low and throw a rod. I know to never bog the engine down for fear of bent/broken rods. At what rpm can I "get on it" and not have to worry about rod failure?

Re: What clutch?

I don't ever get on mine below 1500, but I have pmrs so it's different for me. It's hard to say really, your rods may hold 500hp for another 300k, or it might not, it's impossible to tell if there are any microscopic cracks in the rods or not.
