piston bowl chamfer

I was wondering if anyone had a spec on how much to chamfer the piston bowl; such as angle, depth, overall width after chamfer? Any input would help.
Thanks.

Machinist hasn't been around for a long time from the way it looks.

Re: piston bowl chamfer

I drop in every few weeks.

Here's the before/after pics of the bowl profile we worked up many years ago.

I don't remember the numbers off the top of my head, but it was done for two purposes, to decrease compression without sacrificing squish/quench which is so important to diesel combustion, and to thicken the edge of the recumbent bowl to discourage the cracking which is so common there in performance motors.

The bowl diameter is increased and radiused, and the center dome is reprofiled to increase volume and yet keep fuel swirl characteristics in place.
