Re: 4r100 Torque converter

why not put one in a used trans? what if the trans performs flawlessly before you install it?

If the trans blows up, you lose the TC as well. If it is a $400 TC, maybe not so much risk as a Precision at $1200????

Re: 4r100 Torque converter

Thats understandable. But if you put that tc and a good vb in, the rest of the trans should be able to handle at least 400 horse right?

Adding power is a gamble, there is no way around it. It depends on how you drive it. I am on my 2nd stock tranny since my engine rebuild. I haven't gotten around to getting a BTS yet. I just bought a used tranny and swapped it myself. I drive a lot different now .

I had my stock trans with a bts vb last for 2.5 with my setup and raced it all the time but who knows when it will let go.
