Low boost... So I think

I'm seeing what i would call very low boost out of my truck and it seems to be getting worse. At WOT in the all out setting on Matts chip when i 1st got the truck back i could hit 30psi pritty easy. then it dropped to about 26 now its hard to it over 20 in any setting.

I had checked everything I can think off... no soot on the up pipes or anything. and now boost leaks that i can find. All the boots where cleaned very well and everything when Nate put it back together.

Is this just the stocker dieing a slow and painful death?

Pop the intake off and check the compressor wheel and check end play.

If the compressor wheel is OK, drop the down pipe and check the exhaust side. Are all the bolts still holding the exhaust housing on?

On edit you might want to check the line for your boost gauge as well, especially if the truck does not feel like it has lost any power.

If there is no soot on the up pipes, the clamp at the bottom of the turbo is on good, and you've pressure tested the cold side, i'd suspect the turbo. As said, check it for play. Another thing to check is your intake plenums. Are you still running stock ones? I know you said you checked for boost leaks, but those can be a little deceiving. They crush inside the boot.

Pull the intercooler and pressurize it.

No it's a 12 inch crack on my spearco.... it is in for warranty right now.... it was sneaky because it was so wide you couldn't feel it but when i pressured up my intake system it would empty the compressor. It must have been cracked since last year because I started with 42lbs and it progressively got lower the more I ran it this year.... Maybe now I will see 50 psi...

Re: Low boost... So I think

do you still have your wastegate plugged in? pull the vaccum line going to it and see if your numbers come up. my early 99 did similar to what you are saying.. and it was just the wastegate. if i understand it correctly, a spring holds it shut and that spring gets weak over time and cant hold the pressure.
