unplug your DP-Tuner...

..... and your radio stations come in clear for a change

So I've been living with "fuzzy" radio stations for a while (like a year), and today it occurred to me that maybe I should try something.... Reached under the dash, pulled the DP-Tuner off the PCM and the friggin radio comes in clear as day again

Apparently these F5 switches give off some kind of interference that fuks with the radio.

Looks like I need to relocate my F5 switch a little further away from the radio.

Re: unplug your DP-Tuner...

You do have the shielded cable, yes?

I have the shielded cable in my F250, but I'm still running with the unshielded cable in my Excursion, with only one incident that I know was caused by the cable being unshielded.

With my travel-trailer hooked up, and the brake controller in use, I hit my horn at some idiot who cut me off and it caused my to engine shut off.

Once I cycled the ignition off, everything reset and all was good.

Re: unplug your DP-Tuner...

I'm not sure if I have the shielded cable, the chip was brand new 1 year ago, so w/e Jody was using a year ago I have.

This is not happening in my truck, nor a chitload of other owners I know of. You may have another problem. Have you talked to Jody, or just decided to start a bashfest?

Re: unplug your DP-Tuner...

Sounds like a cable problem. My F5 with the flat cable caused radio interference as well, but with the shielded cable, it's fine.

Jake, give Jody a call.

Wait, seriously? Bash fest?

Find one post I have made BASHING anyone on this site EVER, never mind Jody. Talk about jumping to conclusions, DA.

The point of this thread was to "report" my findings. I was kind of shocked that the chip/switch actually did interfere with the radio reception.

I will, he needs to do some re-burns for me anyways so I'll talk with him next week when I send the chip in.
