You do have the shielded cable, yes?
I have the shielded cable in my F250, but I'm still running with the unshielded cable in my Excursion, with only one incident that I know was caused by the cable being unshielded.
With my travel-trailer hooked up, and the brake controller in use, I hit my horn at some idiot who cut me off and it caused my to engine shut off.
Once I cycled the ignition off, everything reset and all was good.
