egt placement

I am about to install an egt gauge. I have been told to put it in the drivers side manifold. I am just worried about drillling into the manifold and getting all the shavings out so i don't destroy my turbo. What should i do? i don't want to take off the manifold

Re: egt placement

Drill, tap, install and drive away.

Your drilling up, gravity makes things fall down. Myself, I have never seen anything fall up.

What shavings might get flung up there will blow by the turbo at idle with no issues.

Re: egt placement

Just drill at a vertical angle, drill slowly, you will be fine.....just dont muck up the tap or break the bit Have fun

Re: egt placement

I have heard nuts and all kinds of sh*t fly right through the turbine at idle, no problem.

A few shavings is no problem. If you piled all the shavings that fell out back up in the manifold they would just blow right out the turbine wheel at idle, off idle without any notice.

Re: egt placement

Drill the hole slowly, use a sharp bit and don' t use excess force. Then put some grease on the tap it will catch almost all the metal.
It worked great on mine

No reason for messy grease. Drill, tap, install, drive away.

Re: egt placement

Yep, I also drilled, tapped, and done. No grease, no vacuuming out shavings, nothing. So many PSD owners have done it this way, and no one has screwed up their turbo with metal shavings.

Re: egt placement

Ok guys, I have a issue. I have a brother who rides the dark side in a
duracrap...He admires my Power stroke gage pod and wants one. I'll
have to install it so I need to know where to put the EGT probe. I know
most would say "where" but he is my older brother and has a few health
problems. Anyone know the best place on a duracrap?

Thanks in advance.

Bill
