Rebuild kit for Detroit locker

I've got a Detroit and the springs are starting to go. I'm getting some play in the drive shaft. My rear end shop said that there are no longer any rebuild kits available.
Is this true?
Does anybody know where to find one?

Thanks,

Sean

Re: Rebuild kit for Detroit locker

My driveshaft turns near a quarter turn, when in neutral, and the parking brake on. Since new. When I say since new, I mean since the detroit was new.

Right now, mind rolls back about 4" when I part on a hill. I get 3/4-1 rotation.

Re: Rebuild kit for Detroit locker

I never measured mine, but it moved about 3 inches if I had to guess if you go back and forth on the park pin. Does the locker seem to function like it should? Other then the forward, rearward movement?

On edit, I do not know were to get a rebuild kit, but if I had to guess on the person who could locate one, its Steve, at Differential Engineering in winter haven florida. His number is 863-294-7602. He is my hero in the differential world. Other then the work I do myself. Should be able to help you out.

Re: Rebuild kit for Detroit locker

Thanks. I'll give him a call. I went ahead and bought a new unit. I want to find a rebuild kit so I can put the old unit in my other truck.

I'll post up the difference in play w/ the new unit.

Thanks again for your help.

Sean
