downpipe

i have a 1997 f 250 powerstroke and i have talked to a few people about putting in a new exhaust system on and they have said that if i upgrade to a 3 inch downpipe it will rattle and i will have trouble fitting it in

Re: downpipe

Not if you put it in right, and if you're going to do an exhaust, the downpipe will be very helpful with EGT's and turbo spool.

Re: downpipe

If you look at where the downpipe passes the firewall you will see that it pinches down alot. To fit a 3inch downpipe you have to bend the seam on the firewall back (sounds worse then actually doing it). If it rattles take downpipe out and bend some more, some trucks have more room between engine and firewall then others but its a case by case basis, all have to bend that seam, only question is how much. For more info look in the obs forum rather then the superdutys.

Re: downpipe

make it easy on yourself and get a porta power and stick it up in there and bend the pinch welded seem up real good throughout that area and you shouldn't have any vibrations, they are really not that bad with the porta power 30min and you should have it in and done.
