What's my truck doing?

I was backing the truck out today and it killed on me. When I got out I saw dieseldripping somewhat heavily on the ground near the rear passenger side of the engine. I haven't looked at it real carefully yet, but checking briefly up top I couldn't see anything, even in the valley. On the bottom, looks like it's running down the back of the block and hitting the flywheel which is slinging it to the passenger side. I'm gonna look at it closer later.

On the truck killing, it'll be just sitting there idling then have a "miss" or die. Ran Autoeninuity and the only code that came up was when I did the cylinder contribution test- P0269 (Injector Circuit Contribution/Balance Fault). No cps codes or anything out of the ordinary other than that. It had missed on me once or twice before over the past couple of months, but it's started doing it more frequently this week.

Oil and water levels are fine, no fuel smell or feel to them.

Any ideas?

Only other known thing wrong is a leaking up-pipe, which I'm addressing next weekend.

Re: What's my truck doing?

Is the leak related to the O rings on the back of the fuel bowl at the valve?

Thinking out loud. Had to change mine a while back. Dont think it would cause it to die though.

Re: What's my truck doing?

sounds like you may have a leak in the valley area, if you still have the drain on your engine it come out right by the starter on the passenger side, so if your regulator or something up there is leaking that would be the cause....

Re: What's my truck doing?

Maybe one of the fuel ports on the rear of the heads is leaking, either where your regulated return line connects to, or where the fitting bolts into the port.

As for the engine dying, didn't you change your CPS not too long ago? Once you rule out the CPS, start monitoring ICP pressures with AE and see if you find pressure dropping when it's running rough or dying.

Re: What's my truck doing?

Danny, I'm with Pocket. I would look carefully at the lines going to the back of the head, especially if you have the DI regulated return. Also look carefully at the hose going to the passenger side head and it's relationship to the turbo outlet/downpipe. Any recent fuel system changes? A call to Slim might be in order.

Re: What's my truck doing?

Yeah, talked to him. He said the same thing about the fitting on the back of the head so I'll check that closer after work. Still trying to figure out the dieing part. I watched icp briefly but it didn't die or miss while I was watching it. It runs perfect and then out of the blue it'll kill (or try to kill). No sudden roughness or anything. Acting just like an icp going out. I may go ahead and swap it even though there's no code for it.

Still gotta figure out why I'm getting that P0269 code though.

Re: What's my truck doing?

Could it be sucking air in the fitting that is leaking fuel?

Re: What's my truck doing?

i would still check the CPS - when mine failed i never even got a code and it would try to die and sometimes actually die.
hope you get it fixed.
on the fuel definitely check those o-rings, this fuel has been eating them up on some of the trucks i've seen. maybe you have a leaky hose fitting on the reg kit? is it fed in the 1/8" port or the big one directly in the back?
