Turbonetics BB?

So I worked on a customer's truck this weekend and it had the Turbonetics BB drop in. Does this thing flow any more air than stock? It just seems to spool up fast but doesn't put down the airflow like the 38Rs like i'm used to.

Not trying to start up a huge war, just wanting info.

Re: Turbonetics BB?

IIRC The Turbonetics only used a 61mm compressor wheel and the Garrett Ball Bearing uses a 66mm wheel...

Maybe that is where your airflow difference is at

Re: Turbonetics BB?

It was a PMR truck that just recieved a new set of injectors..... Just didn't seem boost happy like a 38R. Although those 80% hybrids do get 2mpg better than stock and don't break 1200 degrees with a 18K combined weight in the heavy tow tune....

I'm working with someone right now with the same issue. Lots of fuel, custom tuned, slow to build boost and doesn't like to boost over 30psi.

Porch Monkey. It's cool, I'm taking it back.

Re: Turbonetics BB?

I never had the BB version on my truck. But I've ridden in a few that have and I was never impressed.

Re: Turbonetics BB?

My Tn BB came alive with hybrid injectors.

I tested the TN bb and the Garrett BB and @ the track and the TN was only 1-2 tenths slower.

15-30+ psi was awesome...

Re: Turbonetics BB?

Just seemed hard pressed to get much more than 30PSI. I wonder what the backpressure was doing at that boost level? Maybe I'll have a look if the customer wants something "adjusted" on the tune ever.
